Easter weekend! We ended it this year with a new BABY!! We visited Tyler, Texas with Damon’s family and ate tons of food, drank plenty of margaritas, and tried sending “come ‘on baby” vibes to my sis – in – law’s belly, to no avail. But while waiting for her induction Monday we had a ton of fun in between.
My morning out with Jessica and Malia was just the girl time I needed. I don’t get much of that with all boys around, and had an amazing time pigging out, sunburning on a fancy restaurant patio, then spending the afternoon shopping with my niece. I love that we enjoy that hobby together, Damon isn’t a great buddy for anything involving spending money.
We ate out Saturday night at this grocery store called Fresh. We chilled on their big outdoor patio and listened to live music, danced, and let the kids run wild. This is where the margaritas and 7 desserts (courtesy of my brother – in – law Tim and I) went down.
This is the oldest Hertel grandkid, Ean’s identical twin. He will be a freshman in high school this fall *insert reality face slap here*. Dylan and “Lia” have a tough job. They are 5 years older than the rest of the cluster of babies in our family, so they do a lot of the dirty work. Literally. They change diapers, keep kids off our hands, help dress them, teach them, and all together keep ’em alive for us when we don’t have enough eyes and hands. Which is always when we are together, because there are 11 grandkids – 9 of which are 6 and under. 6 of which are 3 and under. Let that sink in. That’s a lot of baby – making.
Sunday we all packed into mass together and had an awesome meal afterwards at Adam and Leslie’s house. The kids did Easter egg hunting and crashed super hard that night. Dylan and Malia worked super hard to find the money egg, only to score $3 for their troubles. If your instinct leads you to think Damon stuffed that egg, you’re close. Jessica did. They’re the same person, born 5 years apart. Guess God thought our family needed two of them. I honestly did not hear much of the sermon Sunday, but was uplifted by tons of reminders throughout the day of Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice. The blessed weekend was an amazing reminder of God’s grace and mercy, and we are grateful for all we are able to enjoy thanks to HIM. Damon and I even snatched a dinner date out thanks to Jess and grandmomie.
And finally we topped off the weekend with Avery’s arrival! Not only is my sister – in – law an adorable pregnant chic, but they make gorgeous girls!! She only pushed for ten minutes – rockstar! I already miss holding and smelling Avery. It’s easy to be obsessed with her – I mean LOOK!
It’s going to be hard to top this one. Thankful for 11 healthy Hertel bunnies, and the amazing God that chose to throw me into this family’s chaos – I couldn’t have done better!
